Pulmonary Health

Our board-certified pulmonologists treat patients experiencing many types of lung conditions, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, pneumonia, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, and lung cancer. With state-of-the-art diagnostics, such as the PulmOne MiniBox+™ to conduct open pulmonary function tests and NIOX VERO® to measure airway inflammation, we’ll be able to accurately diagnose your condition and provide a comprehensive treatment plan. What’s more, our pulmonologists work hand-in-hand with our patients’ primary care providers for seamless continuity of care.

Sleep Medicine

We are an AASM-accredited sleep disorders center that provides in-lab and at-home sleep studies from board-certified sleep specialists. We work with patients experiencing many different types of sleep disorders, from insomnia to sleep apnea, restless legs syndrome (RLS), and narcolepsy. Our in-lab sleep studies are conducted in hotel-quality suites that have many amenities to make our patients’ stays as comfortable as possible. And, because we’re an accredited facility, you can feel good knowing we’ll deliver top-notch clinical recommendations that are based in the latest medical research and treatment guidelines.

Shortness of Breath

Shortness of breath is the inability to breathe as deeply or as quickly as you need to. It is also described as having a tight feeling in your chest. It can be a symptom of many common medical conditions, such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), COVID-19, pneumonia, and anxiety. Treatment often includes medication, lifestyle modifications, and oxygen therapy. At West Coast Pulmonary & Sleep Disorders Center, we can diagnose the cause of your shortness of breath and develop a comprehensive treatment plan to get you on the road to wellness.

Post-COVID

Some of the more common post-COVID symptoms that people may experience weeks or months after the infection are shortness of breath or chronic cough. At West Coast Pulmonary & Sleep Disorders Center, we provide treatment for these post-COVID symptoms. We’ll also conduct one or more diagnostic tests to rule out any other underlying condition that may be causing your discomfort. Pulmonary rehabilitation, medication, and oxygen therapy are all used to treat post-COVID shortness of breath and chronic cough.

Telemedicine

Telemedicine services allow patients to receive prompt care for a pulmonary condition or sleep issue without leaving home. All you need is an Internet connection and a smartphone, tablet, or webcam-enabled computer to speak with one of our clinicians. Our telemedicine appointments take place on a HIPAA-compliant audiovisual platform where you can discuss your symptoms, ask questions, and get treatment recommendations. Some of our tests can even be conducted at home, such as certain sleep studies.

With fully automated controls that generate data digitally, PulmOne MiniBox+ is a state-of-the-art machine that is the perfect option for patients who may be claustrophobic, be wheelchair-bound, or simply want a simpler way to receive their pulmonary function test.

Patient Reviews

“I found everyone to be helpful and courteous. The receptionist was extremely nice. And the lady who did my pulmonary test was very patient and very thorough. She was a detail-oriented person. She showed this by her rechecking all the information she put into the computer. Overall I really enjoyed my experience with West Coast pulmonary. I would recommend this facility for any of your pulmonary concerns.”

- Liz C.

“Dr. Gergana Nelson is kind, sympathetic, and thorough. She is a model doctor/pulmonologist for others to emulate. Highly recommended. The front office staff, which is bilingual, is professional and very pleasant. A great initial experience!”

- GJ

“I saw Dr. Nelson yesterday and had to write a review to express my gratitude for her and appreciation for her care. If only all physicians were just like this! Eddie the assistant and the front office ladies were also super nice and professional.”

- Christine H.

“Very professional staff, from the front desk, to the medical assistant and to the doctor. Dr. Bhatia is wonderful.”
